Tacoma, WA 98409We are located in the heart of the Historic Downtown South Tacoma neighborhood. We are just 1 mile west of I-5 near the corner of South 56th Street and South Tacoma Way. When in doubt, just look for the big green building, you can’t miss it.
Do you offer on-site parking?
Yes, there is a private lot on the north side of our building with two reserved parking spots as well as plenty of other non-reserved parking spots which we share with the other businesses in our building. There is also usually ample street parking available on South Puget Sound Ave.
Is your building accessible?
We strive to make our games as accessible as possible for every player. With that being said, our building is over 100 years old and naturally there are several accessibility issues that are out of our control. If you have any concerns about specific accessibility needs, please reach out to us (hello@cityscapegames.com) before booking your game and we can discuss the options for making sure everyone has a great time.
What do we do when we arrive?
Upon arriving to our building, simply ring the doorbell on the door and one of our staff will escort you inside of the building. Our door typically remains locked for the safety of our guests and staff. We ask that you arrive promptly at the time of your booking to ensure you have enough time to sign your waiver and use the restroom before your game. While we appreciate it, we ask that you do NOT arrive more than 5-10 minutes before your scheduled time. Because we are an appointment based business, our staff is not on site until 15 minutes before your game and we need time to get everything set up for you.
Experience
What is an escape room?
Escape rooms are live and interactive entertainment venues where you and your team are tasked to solve a series of puzzles to accomplish a goal. Sometimes your goal is to escape the room but that is not always the case. It really depends on the story of the game you choose to play. Every escape room has different themes, objectives, and difficulty levels and we strive to offer experiences that can accommodate beginners and more advanced players.
Are we actually locked in the room?
No. The door you enter through will never be locked during your game and you are welcome to exit through that door at any point if you feel the need to. There may be some locked doors within the games that lead into other rooms and once these doors are unlocked, they will remain unlocked for the duration of the game. The only door that is locked in the building is the front door which remains locked unless your group is arriving or departing, and can easily be unlocked from the inside in case of an emergency.
Will we be playing with strangers?
No, never. All of our games are private bookings. That means that your group will be the only players in the game.
Are your escape rooms family friendly?
Yes! We strive to create games that are family friendly from start to finish. Our games are not designed to be scary and do not contain any mature/adult themes. We want everyone to be able to enjoy our games. In general, if you are looking for an easier family friendly game, we would recommend our Zookeeper game.
Are escape rooms good for team building?
Yes! Escape rooms are an excellent activity for all types of team building: corporate events, work events, sports teams, clubs, you name it! Escape rooms require teams to utilize problem solving and communication skills in order to succeed together. They are the perfect blend of interactive and logical problem solving.
How long does the experience last?
The total time you will spend in our facility is about an hour and thirty minutes. When you book a game with us, you will arrive at the time you booked for. Once you arrive, you will be given about 10 minutes to sign the waiver, use the restroom, and learn the rules/objective of your game from your Game Master. Once you are inside of your game, you will have a time limit of 60-75 minutes (depending on your game) to achieve your given objective. After your game, your Game Master will take a group photo for you to have as a souvenir of your experience and answer any remaining questions you might have.
We are running late. Can we still play?
This will be totally dependent on how late you are to your booking and how booked we are for the rest of the day. Whenever possible, we will try to accommodate your group if you are running a few minutes late. Please reach out to us immediately if you are running late so we can figure out our next steps.
As a general rule, if you arrive more than 15 minutes late to your booking, your allotted time will be reduced from your game for each minute you are late from that point. If you are 30 or more minutes late, you will forfeit your time slot and will be ineligible for a refund or reschedule.
Can we arrive early? Can we play early?
In general, we kindly ask for you to not arrive early to your booking. Unlike other escape rooms that ask you to arrive 10-15 minutes early we kindly ask that you do not arrive early and instead arrive promptly at the time you booked your game for. This is because our staff is scheduled to arrive 15 minutes before the posted game time to set up your game and arriving early may mean that you are arriving before your gamer master is even in the building or the room is ready for you to play in.
You are more than welcome to call ahead and ask us if you can arrive early so we can plan ahead for it. We are happy to accommodate whenever possible. But by default, we ask that you arrive at the time of your booking.
Booking
What is your rescheduling policy?
You are able to reschedule your game up to 24 hours before your scheduled game completely free of charge. In order to get your game rescheduled, please email us (hello@cityscapegames.com) with your current booking information and the date/time you would like to be rescheduled to. Reschedules are permitted within 24 hours of your game, but you will be charged a $50 rescheduling fee.
What is your cancellation/refund policy?
All sales are final once a booking has been made. If there is any reason you would be unable to make it to your scheduled game, please reach out to us as soon as possible to reschedule your game. If rescheduling with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged a $50 rescheduling fee. Unfortunately, we cannot give you a refund for someone who was unable to make it from your party. If you fear that someone in your party will be unable to attend, we recommend only booking tickets for the people you are confident will arrive as we can add more players onto your booking upon arrival.
How do I book a game?
All of our bookings are done through our Resova online storefront. Resova can be accessed from the “Booking Calendar” tab of our website or by pressing the “Book Now” button anywhere you see it ion the site. If you are trying to book a game during our off hours or if the time slot requires you to “call to book”, please call us directly at our store to process your booking or shoot us an email (hello@cityscapegames.com). Usually we are more than happy to accommodate custom time slots.
Do you accept cash?
Unfortunately no, all sales must be made with a credit or debit card. Please make sure you book your tickets ahead of time via our Resova store, which can be accessed via the “Booking” tab on our website. Merchandise sales can be made through our Square POS which also only accepts cards or pay by QR.
Can I book more tickets than the posted maximum?
Our game maximums are set to insure that you feel comfortable in the space while playing our games. We are happy to make exceptions to our posted maximum within reason as long as your group is aware that adding more players may lead to overcrowding and a lack of puzzles for everyone to be able to participate in. Please reach out to us directly if you are interested in booking over the maximum.
Can I book a time slot that is not posted on your website?
We would be happy to accommodate custom time slot whenever it is possible for us. Please reach out to us directly via email or phone to discuss your options. Please, reach out sooner rather than later as we are far more likely to be able to accommodate a custom time slot with more advance notice.
Do you accept walk-ins?
No; however, that does not necessarily mean we cannot accommodate a last minute booking. Please call us directly or send us an email to see if accommodating your group on short notice would be a possibility. PLEASE, do not just arrive at our door without an appointment.
How far in advance do I need to book my tickets?
We recommend booking as soon as possible to ensure you are able to play during your desired time slot. Tickets must be booked at least two hours before the posted scheduled time at the bare minimum. This is because we are only open by appointment and we need ample warning to notify our on-call staff of a booking.
Do you have any age restrictions?
We have no formal age restrictions as we believe that escape rooms are experiences that can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of their age. With that being said, some puzzles may be more difficult for younger players so we have a recommendation of a minimum of 10 years old to get the most out of your experience.
In that vein, there is not a set age when we start charging for children. We realize that every child develops at different rates, and for that reason, I leave it up to the parent’s discretion. In general, if your child is old enough to have basic reading skills and knows numbers 0-10 then they have enough development to be able to participate in most of the game and we ask that they are ticketed.
It should also be noted that any groups with any minors (17 or younger) must have at least one ticketed adult (18 or older) in the game with the minors at all times.
Why is there different prices on different days of the week?
Due to weekends being in higher demand, we offer a discounted rate on the weekdays to encourage guests with more flexibility in their schedules to play on the typically slower days of the week. On top of this, we usually have some form of promotion going on via our website or social media accounts that offer further discounts for those weekdays.
What is the Hero Discount?
Our Hero Discount is a way for us to thank the heroes all around us for their service to our community and for putting the needs of others before their own. The types of people that would qualify for this discount include but are not limited to veterans, active duty military, law enforcement officers, firefighters, teachers, medical professionals, first responders, foster care parents, postal workers, librarians, volunteers, etc. If you are making a difference in your community, we want to reward you!

We are on a fixed income. How can we afford to play?
Please excuse a moment of vulnerability before I answer this question. Before being a business owner, I am first and foremost a person who passionately loves escape rooms. That passion is the reason that I strive to build amazing games and I want everyone to be able to experience them regardless of their socioeconomic position. With that being said, running a small business is very difficult for a number of reasons and I literally cannot afford to keep my doors open without being able to sell tickets to these games.
